I use automatic waters , but they still need to be checked every day , anything less is asking for trouble. Not just to make shore the water is working but to make shore the tank has not started leaking or a squirrel or bird didn’t fall in and drowned

For people who have never been around cattle, horses or any other large livestock including hogs…. It takes ONE throw of the head to get knocked down, into a wall, fence or anything else. One well placed kick to break bones & potentially kill a human. Stand in the wrong place & get pinned by a cow or horse against a fence or wall & critically injured or killed. A cow or horse turning into a freight train on 4 legs & hits a human with their head or body results in critically injured or death. It is better to stay on the opposite side of the fence if a person does not understand how & where to move amongst large livestock.

A car can weighs as much as Mildred. You could put the automatic water on but still turn the water off at the hydrant when it gets full. Dig a little trench for the hose to go into so they can’t play with the hose.
